What’s new for Microsoft Viva – December 2023

December was a great month for Viva Engage, the employee engagement platform that helps you connect, communicate, and collaborate with your colleagues. There were a lot of new announcements and improvements made by Microsoft, which are probably the biggest batch of updates since Viva Engage was renamed from Yammer. You will be amazed by the new features and enhancements that will make your work experience more engaging, productive, and fun!

But that’s not all. There were also some relevant updates for Viva Goals, the goal management tool that helps you align your objectives and key results (OKRs) with your organization’s vision and strategy. Microsoft made some improvements to the application that will allow you to further customize and templatize your OKRs, making them more relevant, measurable, and achievable.

What’s new for Microsoft Viva – November 2023

AI-related updates and Copilot dominated the headlines in November, but Microsoft Viva and its employee experience platform also made significant progress. Viva Engage, in particular, announced several new features and updates to enhance employee engagement and communication. This month also marked the first integration of Copilot with Viva Insights, which will allow you to monitor the usage and impact of the various copilots within your organization through a PowerBi dashboard.

Get ready for a new Files experience in Microsoft Teams with the new OneDrive application

Microsoft recently released OneDrive 3.0, and it’s becoming increasingly essential for managing files in Microsoft 365. As part of this development, they are replacing the Files app in Microsoft Teams with the new OneDrive app experience. This update will bring performance improvements, more viewing options, and the latest features of OneDrive to both classic and new Teams.

This change affects the Files app accessed from the left side of the Teams desktop client, the Files app in the new Teams desktop client will now be called the OneDrive app.

How to forward chat messages in Microsoft Teams

The forward message feature is a new capability that will enable you to send chat messages from one chat to another. You can forward messages from 1:1 chats, group chats and meeting chats. You can also add additional content to the message in order to provide context and clarity for the recipient.

For example, you can forward a message from a customer to your manager and ask for their input. You can forward a message from a colleague to a group chat and share their insights. You can forward a message from a meeting chat to a 1:1 chat and follow up on an action item.

How to switch the order of new messages in Microsoft Teams channels
