What is new for Microsoft Viva – June 2024
This month, Viva Amplify took center stage with several updates aimed at enhancing your ability to create and manage internal campaigns and communications.
But that’s not all. Viva Connections, another Viva application built on SharePoint, continues to grow and adapt. It now offers more customization options, which will undoubtedly help in its adoption by end users.

Viva Engage: Results in Workplace Search

Microsoft Viva Engage will show search results from public Communities, Storylines, and Answers on office.com, sharepoint.com, and Bing at Work. This feature starts rolling out in early July 2024 and completes by early August 2024, with no admin action required.

Viva Amplify – Improved authoring experience

This updates the Viva Amplify editors for both Outlook and Teams distribution channels to improve previewing and editing. These updates will provide improvements to load time and create a coherent audience selection experience across the channels.
Viva Amplify – Introducing content pane
Viva Amplify
The content pane is a new place for relevant panes that help authors create their publications. With the introduction of this centralized location, a new toolbox will help authors quickly browse and add content to create rich and engaging pages. The content pane will include additional panes such as configuration tools and design ideas. Within Viva Amplify, the content pane is used to host the distribution channel selection, writing guidance, and audience selection.
Viva Amplify – Easier to find your most recent templates

Updates to the Viva Amplify template display include showing the most recently modified templates on the campaign overview page for easy access and separating the Viva Amplify provided templates from the user-saved campaign templates.

Official Communities Discovery and Filter

In Microsoft Viva, Official Communities, verified by Engage admins, will be more discoverable on the Communities discovery page and can be filtered on the View all Communities page. This feature, associated with Microsoft 365 Roadmap ID 396722, will roll out in June 2024.
Viva Insights Copilot Dashboard delegation
Viva Insights
Users can delegate access to the Copilot Dashboard to others within their company. Admins can set policies to manage access to the delegation feature.
Viva Glint – Edit questions associated to live surveys

Allow Glint Admins to edit select fields of a question that is associated to live surveys.

A new feature to manage users in Viva Engage (View-only mode)
Viva Engage
Starting July 2024, Viva Engage will introduce a view-only mode, allowing admins to limit users’ abilities to create or edit content. Users in view-only mode can still access content and receive notifications. The feature is managed in the Engage admin center and recorded in M365 audit logs. No action is required from admins to enable this feature.
Viva Insights employee engagement with leader communications report
Viva Insights
Leaders will have a new report to help them understand the reach of their communications within their organization, and their employees’ engagement with their sent emails, meetings, and shared files to better understand the effectiveness of different modes of communication.
Viva Insights homepage and navigation refresh for organizational leaders
Viva Insights
Homepage and left-hand navigation will be updated to highlight the value of recently released reports. In addition, a new library page will be introduced where users can filter on metrics by sub-organizations, time periods and peer benchmarks and access all of their available reports.
Viva Amplify – Support for SharePoint audience targeting

When publishing to one or multiple SharePoint sites from within Viva Amplify, you can now promote the news post to specific audiences by indicating security groups, Microsoft 365 groups, or AAD dynamic groups.

Microsoft Viva Insights will soon allow leaders to delegate access to their Copilot Dashboard to designated individuals within their company. This feature will enable delegates to view insights and make informed decisions, without seeing the leader’s personal insights.

Viva Insights
Microsoft Viva Insights will introduce design improvements and new leader reports in late June 2024. The update will feature a redesigned home page, new navigation sections, and reports on external focus, new hire onboarding, and meeting cost and quality. A new report on employee engagement with leadership communications and a Pulse survey feature will also be added. These features will be available on desktop, web, and mobile for Viva Insights subscribers. No action is required from admins for the rollout.

The new Viva Insights Hybrid workplace report helps leaders understand the experience of hybrid, remote, and onsite employees at their companies. The report identifies when and how employees are working in a hybrid work environment, and how the employee experience might differ depending on whether an employee works onsite, remote, or hybrid.

Viva Pulse is expanding its content library with 4 new templates and 53 questions, focusing on team priorities, efficiency, meeting effectiveness, and organizational progress. Rollout starts late June 2024, with completion by early July. Tenant admins should review and manage these additions as needed.

Create and highlight videocentric publications, like meeting content or executive messages, with the new video templates in Viva Amplify; this presents videos that are inline, playable, and beautiful.

Change in attachment links in Viva Engage messages to SharePoint location for eDiscovery
Viva Engage
Viva Engage messages’ attachment links will be changed to SharePoint locations for better eDiscovery integration. This update, starting late June 2024 and completing by mid-July 2024, will make attachments appear with messages in eDiscovery review sets, aligning with other products and improving reliability. Organizations using eDiscovery should update their training and documentation.

Viva Connections: Refreshed Resources section on mobile to align with desktop

The Microsoft Viva Connections Resources section on mobile will be updated to match the desktop version, ensuring consistency of navigational links across devices. Control the availability of Copilot in Viva Goals using Viva Feature Access Management starting in July 2024

Starting July 2024, Copilot in Viva Goals will be managed via Viva Feature Access Management (VFAM). Admins can control its availability for specific groups or entire tenants. Existing settings will be automatically transferred to VFAM without needing reconfiguration. Rollout begins mid-July and completes by late August 2024.

Viva Learning: Learner Completion Record bulk export

The Microsoft Viva Learning’s updated Learner Completion Record bulk export allows downloading of multiple user records at once using Microsoft 365 user and security groups. It will roll out worldwide from mid to late August 2024 without requiring admin action.
Viva Engage: The External users feature retires October 1, 2024
Viva Engage
The External users feature in Microsoft Viva Engage will be retired on October 1, 2024, to maintain compliance and support Native Mode networks. Users invited as guests before Native Mode must be reinvited as Entra B2B users with Office authentication enabled. No action is required from admins to prepare for this change.
