What’s new for Microsoft Viva – January 2023
The first month of 2023 is gone and during January we’ve seen a lot of announcements for Microsoft Viva applications being made.

Introducing New Views in Viva Goals
Viva Goals
Viva Goals is now rolling out new simplified list and detail views to customer tenants. This rollout will complete in late January 2023.
The new view offers a refreshed information hierarchy with a flexible spreadsheet-like interface. It will allow you to resize column as well as access key information like status, progress, commentary, check-in history, alignment, and other OKR details by clicking on the cell. The user will have greater control over visualizing OKRs with multiple options for grouping, expanding, showing and hiding panels within the view. In the first half of 2023, we will be introducing additional customization and filtering options for data columns.
General Availability of Viva Topics for Yammer
Viva Topics
Microsoft is announcing the General Availability of Viva Topics for our Yammer customers.
The General Availability of Viva Topics for Yammer experiences enables us to leverage a more robust and secure infrastructure for Topics. It also enables organizations to use these Topics outside of Yammer (for example, Topics can be tagged in Teams chats or in Outlook messages).
Praise highlights in profile card in Teams and Outlook
Viva Insights
WPraise in Microsoft Teams is designed to appreciate the effort that goes into the wide-ranging, collaborative work that Teams users do. Users can send praise to their colleagues through the messaging extension pinned to the Teams messaging bar or through the Microsoft Viva Insights app in Teams. For both, admins can use the Microsoft Teams admin center to enable/disable Praise.

Get ready for Answers in Microsoft Viva
Viva Engage
Answers is a conversational experience for asking questions and connecting people to answers, and appears as a tab in Viva Engage. Learn more in the announcement blog (Announcing Answers in Microsoft Viva), or view the Microsoft Mechanics segment (YouTube).
Note: Customer tenants will need to be in Native Mode (Yammer Native Mode: step-by-step guide) and require Yammer topics being migrated to Viva Topics (Viva Topics experience in Yammer).
New Viva Engage Admin experiences releasing next month
Viva Engage
Next month, new admin experiences will be available within the Viva Engage Teams app for Microsoft Viva customers.
Standard Release: We will begin rolling out early February 2023 and expect to complete by early March 2023.
Sentiment Analysis in Viva Engage Premium Analytics
Viva Engage
Audience Analytics, part of Viva Engage premium, will enable users identified as leaders have access sentiment analysis features powered by Azure Cognitive Services (ACS).
Sentiment in your audience uses ACS sentiment analysis to understand the aggregate sentiment across all public posts and comments on storyline and in communities written by members of the leader’s defined audience.

New Experiences coming to Viva Engage

Next month, new experiences will be available within Viva Engage for Microsoft Viva customers.
Admins will see new capabilities and service plans in the Admin Center and new experiences in the Viva Engage app in Microsoft Teams, and on Yammer.com. For an overview of these experiences, check out this blog.
Get ready for Answers badges in Microsoft Viva
Viva Engage
Answers badges are coming to Viva Engage! People can get recognized by their colleagues through the Answers feature based on the upvotes their questions or answers have earned, or if their answers were marked as the best answer.

New Integration Management Settings for Global Admins in Viva Goals
Viva Goals
Viva Goals supports integrations with Microsoft and third-party apps and platforms so that the OKR implementation process is as simple, effective, and seamless as possible. Effective immediately, global administrators can manage which integrations are available to Viva Goals organizations in your tenant. Additionally, Microsoft Planner and Excel integrations with Viva Goals will be available by default.
Introduction of organization insights in Microsoft Viva digest email
Viva Insights
The biweekly digest email will carry premium organizational insights for qualifying managers. Initially, these insights will include three rotating areas of focus: after-hour collaboration, meeting culture, and manager 1:1 time. Eventually, this pipeline of insights will grow.
Users can navigate directly to the Viva Insights app in Teams for a more detailed view.

Goals Bulk OKR Import
Viva Goals
Viva Goals allows bulk importing of Objectives, Key Results and Projects using a standard Excel template. Bulk import allows you to take pre-existing lists of OKRs and Projects and quickly add them to Viva Goals.

Viva Goals audit logs will be available from January in Compliance Center.
