What’s new for Microsoft Viva – December 2022
In 2022 Microsoft Viva has received a lot of new applications and features, and in the last month of the year we had a quite a few announcements for Viva Insights, but there was also a updates for Viva Connections, Viva Goals and more.

Sharing praise with others
Viva Insights
With updates coming in January, users with Viva Insights subscriptions who send praise will have the ability to share a copy of the praise with others. Shared recipients will be notified via Teams and can see praise details in the Microsoft Viva Insights app in Teams.

As previously announced, Microsoft will be releasing our new experiences for Viva Engage and Answers in Microsoft Viva in early 2023.
Meeting prep inline suggestions coming to Outlook with Viva Insights
Viva Insights
Users with a Viva Insights subscription will receive inline suggestions in Outlook to book meeting preparation time. Meeting invite recipients will receive the inline suggestions if the meeting is between 30 and 60 minutes long, it has fewer than 12 attendees, it is not recurring, and the user has time on their calendar for prep time.
Automatic Topic Relationships available in GCC
Viva Topics
The ability for AI to suggest relationships between topics will be available for customers in our Government Clouds. These suggested related topics appear on the topic card, page and answers. This is already available for standard worldwide customers.

Viva Connections Toolbox displaying store apps

In the current Viva Connections environment: for users to acquire more Cards to their Dashboard, they need use the “Add an app” under Settings and Dashboard Edit Page, but it does not include Viva Connections Apps provided by Independent Software Vendors (ISVs). This is a major blocker of ISVs acquisition engine.

The daily Briefing email and the semi-monthly Digest email, automatically delivered to your Outlook inbox, will be available for DoD. The daily Briefing email is a personalized, actionable email from Microsoft Viva to help you start the day on track and stay on top of tasks. Twice a month, you’ll also receive a Digest email that summarizes data about your work patterns and ways to improve them.

Pausing the Briefing emails from Microsoft Viva
Viva Insights
Based on customer feedback Microsoft is taking some time to improve the content of the Briefing emails from Microsoft Viva to be more personalized for each recipient. The emails will be paused in early 2023 and Microsoft will share an updated Briefing email roadmap later in 2023.
The pausing of the email service will roll out to end users no earlier than January 15th 2023 and will be done by February 1st, 2023.

Sharing a copy of praise in Viva Insights app in Teams and Teams Messaging Extension

Praise in Microsoft Teams is designed to appreciate the effort that goes into the wide-ranging, collaborative work that Teams users do. Users can send praise to their colleagues through the messaging extension pinned to the Teams messaging bar or through the Microsoft Viva Insights app in Teams. For both, admins can use the Microsoft Teams admin center to enable/disable Praise.
With the upcoming updates, users with Viva Insights subscriptions will have the ability to share a copy of praise they send. Shared recipients will be notified via Teams and can see praise details in the Microsoft Viva Insights app in Teams.
Microsoft Viva: Meeting Prep Inline Suggestions Coming to Outlook with Viva Insights

A new inline suggestion in Outlook is being released with Microsoft Viva Insights to support booking meeting preparation time. The book prep time suggestion will enable Viva Insights users to set time aside to review related documents, complete tasks or take on any other preparation steps before the meeting.

Org Explorer in Outlook: View and Navigate the Organization Chart
Viva Insights
Users with Viva license will be able to access Org Explorer on the left side of the folder pane in Outlook for Windows.
This new release of Org Explorer brings a new experience to Outlook Desktop. It will help you visualize and explore your company’s internal structure, work teams, and individual roles.
