What is new for Microsoft Viva – July 2024
This month, Microsoft Viva brings a range of exciting updates designed to enhance productivity and user experience. The spotlight is on Viva Amplify and Viva Pulse, two powerful tools that are set to transform the way organizations communicate and gather feedback.
In addition to these highlights, there are numerous other updates across the Viva suite, including personalized resource icons in Viva Connections, community muting in Viva Engage, and more. These enhancements are rolling out from July to August 2024, promising to make Microsoft Viva an even more indispensable tool for organizations.

Choose custom images as icons for resources in Viva Connections

Microsoft Viva Connections will soon allow users with editing permissions to personalize the Resources section with custom image icons. Rollout begins early July 2024, completing by mid-July, and requires no admin action. Users should consider which images to use for customization.
Viva Engage: Update on community muting for admins
Viva Engage
Microsoft Viva Engage will update the community muting feature for admins, affecting visibility of conversations for dynamically added members in Home Feed and digest emails. The rollout is automatic, starting and completing mid-July 2024, with no required admin action before the rollout. Users should be notified.
Import navigational links from Microsoft SharePoint into Resources in Viva Connections

Microsoft Viva Connections will soon allow users with editing permissions to import SharePoint navigational links directly into the Resources section. This feature will be available on desktop and includes a preview option before saving. Rollout starts early July 2024, with no admin action required for the update.

Viva Pulse: Updates to Privacy controls

This allows separate management of minimum recipients and responses required for feedback visibility. Rollout begins mid-August 2024, with no admin action needed before then. Preparation involves deciding on control settings and updating documentation.

Viva Pulse data available in Insights Analyst Workbench

HR analysts and admins can access aggregated Pulse survey results across the organization and slice and dice the survey results to analyze Pulse survey results by organizational attributes (Ex. organizational hierarchy, job level, job function, geographic location, etc.).
Viva Pulse templates to measure Copilot readiness, adoption & impact as part of Microsoft 365 Copilot

Viva Pulse authors can now use new templates specific to M365 Copilot Readiness, Adoption & Impact to measure employee sentiment around their organization’s Copilot adoption. These templates will be available as part of your Microsoft365 Copilot subscription as well.
Viva Learning – Copilot Academy visibility for users with Copilot SKU and VL Seeded/Premium

Headspace will no longer be available through Viva Insights
Viva Insights
Headspace content will be removed from Viva Insights on July 25th, 2024, affecting all entry points and experiences. Organizations should prepare by disabling Headspace via PowerShell, assessing the impact, and updating documentation. Breathing exercises will still be available in-app.
Changes to Topics in Viva Engage

In February 2024, Viva Engage will simplify its topics model and retire integration with Viva Topics. Premium and management experiences will be removed, but users can still create, edit, and follow topics. Rollout begins August 2024, with all migrations completed by April 2025.

Viva Amplify: Updated authoring for distribution channels (Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Outlook)

Microsoft Viva Amplify is updating its authoring experience for Outlook and Teams distribution channels, aiming for a consistent and improved editor interface. This includes faster load times and a unified audience selection process. Rollout starts early August 2024 and should complete by late August 2024.
Viva Pulse – Share open text responses in shared reports

Viva Pulse authors can now choose to share open text responses as part of their shared reports. Authors can also preview their shared reports and choose to update the visibility of open text responses at any point in time.
Viva Pulse – Generate Pulse summary with Microsoft Copilot in Viva Pulse

Use Microsoft Copilot in Viva Pulse to receive an AI-generated summary of your results from a Viva Pulse report. Viva Pulse authors can share it with their team members as well use it to promote transparency.
Viva Engage – Designated experts in communities

We are introducing the Community Expert in Viva Engage to enhance the trust and utility of knowledge in your communities. Experts will be able to endorse accurate and credible answers and be recognized as community experts with a special label next to their name.
Viva Amplify – Advanced analytics
Viva Amplify
These updates to Amplify Reports and Analytics provide a series of improvements to the existing experience, such as large audience scenarios to better reflect reach across the enterprise. Viva Amplify reports will now be integrated with Campaign Brief and will also include historical data. This data will be available as graphs on the reports and to download as a CSV. There will also be features for copying charts as images and downloading to PowerPoint. The historical data experience provides unique views, promotions, and reactions for the last 7, 30, 90 days, and the last 12 months.

Soon in Viva Amplify, you will be able to copy a publication within an existing campaign with just a few clicks. This new feature streamlines the content creation process, enabling communicators to easily reuse existing content across SharePoint, Outlook, and Teams, including all channel-specific customizations and related audiences, saving you time and effort.
