What’s new for Microsoft Viva – November 2022
It’s the last day of the month and it’s time to resume all the updates and new features announced for Microsoft Viva during November 2022. This month we got updates for Administrators managing the Viva suite, new layouts for Viva Connections, Stories for Viva Engage, an improved experience for Viva Topics and more…
New Viva admin experience in M365 Admin Center
The Viva collections experience now has a brand-new look where you can configure licenses, roles, and access individual app configuration pages. Admins will be able to deploy Viva from a common place within the Microsoft 365 admin center and find guidance on how best to configure their tenants.
Viva is now discoverable via search making it easier than ever to discover Viva apps within the Microsoft 365 admin center. Admins can also navigate to the experience via the setup tab, and then click on the Viva collection. From the new Viva suite setup page, you can see details about the Viva apps in your tenant, including plan type and the admins assigned with permissions to manage a specific app. Now it’s easier than ever to see who from your organization will help in the deployment journey for Viva
Stories available for public preview in Yammer and Microsoft Viva Engage beginning early November
Beginning in early November, Yammer Network and Verified Admins will be able to opt into the public preview of stories for Microsoft Viva Engage and Yammer, via a toggle control in Yammer.
Stories build on the benefits of Storyline by allowing users to share short videos or photos that deliver a familiar, delightful way to catch up and stay connected with people you work with and interesting people across the organization. Create or upload a story on your storyline to share a quick update, capture an experience, express yourself, or amplify existing content.
Enhanced Admin Controls for Viva Insights
We have added new capabilities for Admins in Viva Insights: Admins can allow end users to opt out of having their user metrics made available in advanced insights line-level query results, and Admins can now manage the new Viva Insights web experience in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center or by using PowerShell.
These changes will start to roll out by mid-November and will be available worldwide by late January 2023.
New Admin Capabilities in Viva Goals
Integrations in Viva Goals help save time and energy by automatically updating your key results and projects through connections to other applications from Microsoft and third parties. These integrations allow data to flow from the connected applications into Viva Goals so that results and projects are up to date. As Viva Goals is continuing to grow support for more integrations, we will be adding new capabilities for global admins to manage Viva Goals integrations for all organizations in their tenant.
More Layout Options and Yammer Card Content for the Feed Web Part for Viva Connections
Updates are coming for the Feed web part for Viva Connections. The Feed web part for Viva Connections aggregates organizational communications content from sources across SharePoint, Yammer, and Stream into a single, personalized feed.
The updates include a new vertical layout option for the web part to give you greater flexibility when adding it to SharePoint pages and more types of Yammer content that will be displayed as cards in the feed and help create a rich and integrated experience.
Update to the experience for collecting feedback on AI quality and correctness through the Topic Card
You will soon see an updated experience on the Topic Card to better request feedback from users on the quality of a suggested highlight on SharePoint modern pages, and the quality of a suggested topics and its suggested properties. The questions have not changed, but the experience is more noticeable and has a new option to respond with “Not sure”.
Viva Topics Cards in Viva Connection
Microsoft Viva is rolling out Topics action cards in Viva Connections to encourage knowledge discoverability, engagement, and sharing. Users will be able to engage with topics with the Adaptive Topics Cards.
Viva Insights web app in DoD
A new web interface for the Viva Insights app will be discoverable via the web and the Microsoft 365 app launcher. This will offer an additional way to access the personal productivity and wellbeing experiences in the Viva Insights app in Teams.
Suggest types for Viva Topics
Topic types provide better context to users by providing them with a suggested category for topics that helps them distinguish two topics with similar names and determine what type of information they’re viewing. We’ll continue to suggest types like products, projects, events or more, and we’re adding the ability to identify over 150 types which are more granular, like conference, framework, process, and more. As a topic contributor, you can select one or more types for the topic, and set a type to appear at the top of the Topic Card and Page in a pill-shaped designation
