What’s new for Microsoft Viva – June 2025
June brought significant updates across the Microsoft Viva suite, with Engage, Insights, and Amplify receiving the most substantial enhancements.
The standout development this month is the Expanded Copilot in Viva Engage, which will transform the platform into a personalized AI companion. This feature will help users stay informed, discover relevant insights, and recall important information from past conversations and discussions. The rollout begins in July 2025 for Microsoft 365 Copilot-licensed users, so it’s worth reviewing your licensing setup and preparing your change management strategy now.
A quick reminder for those still using Viva Goals – Microsoft has added a data export option to help you transition your information to another system before the sunset. If you haven’t started planning your migration, this new export functionality makes the process more straightforward.

Microsoft Viva Pulse: New question types including skip logic in surveys
Viva Pulse
Microsoft Viva Pulse will introduce skip logic to surveys, allowing tailored and dynamic questions based on previous answers. This feature will be available for single-select multiple choice and rating scale questions. The rollout starts in early June 2025 and completes by late June 2025, with no admin action required.

Admins will soon be able to create and edit hierarchies in Microsoft Viva Glint at any time from the Manage user attributes page. This feature, available from late June to early July 2025, requires a Viva Glint, Viva Suite, or Viva Workforce Analytics and Employee Feedback license. No immediate action is needed.

Admin Toggle to enable/disable “Mark Complete” feature in Viva Learning
Viva Learning
Admins can now enable or disable the “Mark Complete” feature in Viva Learning, allowing learners to manually mark courses as completed when providers don’t send completion signals. This feature will be available in June 2025 and is enabled by default. Admins can disable it via the Viva Learning admin settings page.
Update in Viva Insights Service Plan
Viva Insights
Tenants with MyAnalytics (Full) or Insights by MyAnalytics service plans will see additional unassignable tenant-level service plans starting July 2025. This update aligns with security requirements. No action is required, and existing functionalities remain unchanged. Admins will notice these updates in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Microsoft Viva Engage: Copilot adoption community now available to all tenants

Admins can now manage GDPR data subject requests directly in the Microsoft Viva Engage admin center, with the feature renamed from “Remove User” to “Manage GDPR data subject requests.” This change will be rolled out from late June 2025 to late July 2025, affecting both the web and Teams platforms. Microsoft Viva Insights: New prompt categories in the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard

New prompt categories will be added to the Microsoft Copilot Dashboard in Microsoft Viva Insights, including “Ask and find,” “Catch up,” “Draft and brainstorm,” and “Other.” These updates will be available by late July 2025, with no admin action required. This feature provides an AI generated audio overview of top 10 news items in the Viva Connections news reader experience. It plays the 10 audio clips sequentially to help users catch up on top news in a hands free manner. This experience will be available in the Viva Connections app in Teams desktop and in the Viva Connections experience in the browser (Accessed from the main Viva home portal – viva.cloud.microsoft).
Microsoft Viva: Viva Engage supports 14 more languages

This update allows employees to engage in their preferred language, helping improve communication across multilingual teams. Microsoft Viva: Introducing Viva Engage Role Management APIs on Microsoft Graph

We’re excited to announce that Viva Engage Role Management APIs in Microsoft Graph are releasing soon. These new APIs enable IT admins to programmatically manage Viva Engage-specific roles, including Corporate Communicator, Network Administrator and Verified Administrator. With these APIs, one can automate role assignments, retrieve role data, and streamline admin workflows across organization. Previously, roles such as Global Administrator, Yammer Administrator, and Knowledge Manager were already supported via Microsoft Graph through Entra. This update expands that capability to include all Viva Engage roles—bringing greater flexibility and control to your admin experience. The APIs are now available in beta version for allowing users to test and share their feedback as we prepare for the general availability.

Microsoft Viva: Viva Glint – Delete survey cycles

Microsoft Viva Amplify: HPA Deprecation

Microsoft Viva Amplify is transitioning from App tokens to Protected Forwarded Tokens (PFTs) for enhanced security. This change limits publication scheduling to 30 days in advance and affects token validity, requiring users to reschedule if tokens expire.
