What’s new for Microsoft Viva – March 2026
March 2026 was a quiet month for Microsoft Viva, and honestly, it’s hard not to notice that this has become a pattern. Viva as an employee experience suite feels like it’s losing momentum, and this month did little to change that impression. The majority of updates were once again concentrated in Viva Engage, while the rest of the suite either saw minimal movement or continued to fade into the background.
That said, there was one update that genuinely caught my attention this month. Viva Connections is finally getting the level of control over the experience that admins and organisations have been asking for since the beginning. It feels like it’s reaching the maturity it should have had from day one!
I’ll be honest with you: with the number of meaningful updates shrinking month after month, I’m starting to question whether keeping this monthly roundup going still makes sense. I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts on that, drop a comment below and let me know if this is still useful to you.

We are bringing a set of new Copilot metrics including actions taken in Microsoft 365 Copilot app, Edge and OneNote, and more key use cases across Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint including suggested reply, translate, coach, clean data and more. This will empower customers to more deeply understand the key Copilot adoption cases in Copilot Dashboard and Advanced Analysis in Viva Insights.
Viva Engage will launch enhanced article creation and reading features in March 2026, including multi-column layouts, flexible image handling, auto-generated tables of contents, and improved accessibility. The update is automatic, requires no admin action, and aims to improve long-form content publishing and consumption.

Copilot in Viva Glint now generates AI-powered summaries of employee survey results directly within Team Summary and Executive Summary reports, helping leaders quickly understand strengths, opportunities, and trends across their teams. Copilot Highlights surfaces key insights – such as notable score changes, benchmark comparisons, and response rate confidence – so leaders can move from data to action faster. With general availability, Copilot Highlights expands to support multilingual summaries, enabling global organizations to deliver AI-generated survey insights in their preferred language.

This enables analysts to publish Viva Insights Power BI reports to anyone in their organization. Today, analysts can publish them only to people with Copilot Dashboard access.
This feature enables Company Admins to customize the default Microsoft Viva Glint confidentiality statement. Admins can choose to turn off the default statement and instead define confidentiality messaging tailored to their specific program settings, such as whether responses are configured to be confidential.

Microsoft Viva Glint will introduce AI-generated Copilot highlights in survey reports by April 2026, providing structured summaries of key insights automatically for licensed users. No extra configuration or Microsoft 365 Copilot license is needed. Admins can manage access via the Microsoft 365 admin center.

Microsoft 365 Copilot analytics dashboard will add a new satisfaction rate metric aggregating thumbs-up/down feedback from the past 28 days, visible in the Impact tab with filters. It rolls out worldwide March–April 2026, includes a 4-month data backfill, and requires no admin action.

The featured conversation feature in public Viva Engage communities will include the option to feature a conversation to all network members or only to community members.

Starting late March 2026, Viva Engage communities will support Microsoft Purview sensitivity labels applied to Microsoft 365 groups and SharePoint sites, synchronizing access controls across these platforms. Admins must manually apply labels to existing communities and prepare accordingly for this update.
Microsoft Viva Engage is migrating email sender domains from @yammer.com to @engage.mail.microsoft (and @eu.yammer.com to @eu.engage.mail.microsoft) between September 2025 and April 2026. This affects all Viva Engage tenants and users, requiring updates to mail flow rules, security gateways, and third-party integrations referencing the old domains.

The new content composition experience makes it easier and faster to share in Viva Engage with a cleaner, more intuitive publishing experience. It brings clearer layout, better accessibility, and smarter organization of tools—so you can focus on creating great posts without extra clicks or clutter.

The Delete Attribute feature in Viva Glint will be temporarily unavailable from March 23, 2026, for 1–2 weeks to fix a known issue. Admins cannot delete attributes during this time. No action is needed; wait until April 6, 2026, or submit a support ticket for urgent help.

Viva Connections in the Teams mobile app will update navigation from a three-tab layout to pill-based controls in April 2026. The change improves usability without altering functionality, is enabled by default, and requires no action, though internal documentation updates are optional.
Viva Engage is adding community membership and expert role management, plus verified-answer marking, to its iOS and Android apps (standalone and in Teams). These mobile features, rolling out March–April 2026, enable admins and experts to moderate and manage communities consistently without desktop access.

The Copilot Dashboard adoption landing page will be updated to show a unified view of Copilot adoption across the organization. Instead of the default page showing only on Microsoft 365 Copilot (licensed) usage, the page will include all Copilot user adoption, covering both M365 Copilot and Copilot Chat usage that does not require a license. A License filter will allow users to switch between All, M365 Copilot (licensed), and Copilot Chat (unlicensed) views.
